Hey there! We're not just your average sunglasses brand - we're the cool cats of the eyewear industry. We're turning the sunglasses market upside down with our recycled sunnies that are as easy on your wallet as they are on Mother Earth.
And here's the cherry on top: our Two Trees Planted program has sprouted over a 45,000 trees! We've collected over one million plastic bottles from our oceans. And we're not just carbon-neutral; we're carbon negative. Impressive, right?
But, you might be wondering, "How on earth did we end up here? Read on to find out our story...
It all started on a family holiday in Cape Verde when our youngest, 3 at the time, thought it would be hilarious to snap Tom’s Oakley sunglasses!
...we witnessed an absurd amount of plastic pollution washing up on the once pristine beaches.
Reluctant to buy another pair of designer sunglasses, and after a few beers, a crazy idea was formed…
…what if we took plastic from the ocean and turned it into sunglasses?
And just like that, the idea for Nomad Eyewear was born!
...and countless late nights burning the midnight oil, poring over research until our eyes resembled those of a caffeinated owl. Eventually, we stumbled upon a manufacturer who shared our quirky vision.
Then came the plot twist - we decided to ditch our wedding plans and took our hard-earned savings on a rollercoaster ride to create our very first sunglasses. Love can wait, but sunglasses can't!
2020; in the midst of the UK's first lockdown, while Zoom calls, sourdough starters, and home workouts became the norm, Nomad Eyewear burst onto the scene from the depths of our spare room. Armed with nothing but a website, a dream, a sleepy dog and a bunch of super sustainable shades, we braced for impact as we no idea what would happen...
And the response? Cue the confetti! Our Blueberry Muffin shades flew off the shelves quicker than you can say "sustainable sunglasses"! And they're still our No.1 selling top dogs, err, shades, to this day.
...we've outgrown our spare room and leveled up - we've got a fantastic squad now! But hold on to your sunnies because deep down, we're still a family-run gig. We're more obsessed with sunglasses, our incredible customers, having a blast, and saving the planet than we are with boring ol' profits and spreadsheets.
