We work with one of the largest global supply chains who collects plastic from the oceans. We prevent new plastics finding their way into the water as well as cleaning the oceans of waste plastic. The plastic we collect and process is 100% ocean-bound. We do not use any virgin or non-ocean-bound plastics.
The main collection areas are the islands surrounding Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.Our partner organises ocean and beach clean-ups, collaborates with social enterprises, pays fair wages to local communities and complies with ethical and ecological standards.
The plastic waste is sorted, washed, shredded and shipped to Switzerland, where the magic happens. In cooperation with the Swiss University of Applied Sciences, our partner uses a process that turns 100% ocean-bound plastic into a premium recycled raw material without the need for virgin plastic.
With this know-how and with clean renewable energy, the plastic waste is recycled into a versatile granular material ready for injection moulding our sunglasses.
